The type of tummy tuck that can be performed depends on the patient’s skin characteristics, such as the excess skin, how low you want your tummy tuck scar, how tight you want your belly, and how distorted your belly button is.
Here in this video, Dr. Davoudi breaks down the 3 types of Abdominoplasty (also known as a “Tummy Tuck”) that he performs here at the Atlantic Center for Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery.
🌟A mini tummy tuck is the same procedure as a full tummy tuck, just performed on a patient with less fat and skin to remove. During a mini tummy tuck, Dr. Davoudi will make a small incision similar to the incision made during a c-section. Through this incision, he tightens loose muscles, removes excess fat, and removes excess skin to flatten and smooth your abdominal wall.
🌟A full tummy tuck is an excellent option for both men and women who have lost a significant amount of weight. People who were once obese may still have hanging, loose skin or excess fat deposits around their bellies even after achieving a healthy weight. Unfortunately, no amount of healthy eating or exercise can reduce this bulk, so surgical removal is recommended in this situation.
A similar incision will be made above your pubic area, while a second incision will be made to separate your navel from the surrounding skin. The skin is then detached from the abdominal muscles, revealing both the abdominal wall and the fascia that will be tightened.
🌟The modified tummy tuck can be done to a patient who does not have a lot of excess skin on the belly button. When the patient does not have a lot of skin above the belly button, then an incision can be done following the detachment of the belly button.
