Breast Lift
Conveniently located to serve the areas of Duluth, GA
A breast lift, also known as mastopexy, is a surgical procedure designed to elevate and reshape sagging breasts (ptosis). Over time, factors such as aging, weight fluctuations, pregnancy, and genetics can lead to changes in the breasts’ position and shape, which may cause feelings of self-consciousness or dissatisfaction with one’s appearance. Undergoing a breast lift offers multiple benefits that can deeply impact the emotional well-being and physical appearance of candidates.
Dr. R. Morgan Davoudi is renowned for his steady hands and surgical talent not only in Georgia but across the country. He has achieved double board certification and has many years of experience and exceptional patient outcomes, so you can be confident that you will love your results.

Why Choose a Breast Lift?
The breasts are composed of glandular tissue surrounded by supportive connective tissue and fat, contributing to their shape and size. The skin overlying the breast is vital for maintaining elasticity and firmness. One of the biggest complaints women have about their bodies is the breast tissue sag that naturally occurs as volume and elasticity diminish with age. Breasts can sag and lose their shape even more after breastfeeding, leaving many women with less confidence than they enjoyed in their younger years. (1) Women experiencing breast sagging will often report self-confidence issues from their changing image, discomfort in bras and clothing, and even back pain due to the added tissue mass.
A breast lift at the Atlantic Center for Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery enhances the appearance of the breasts by removing excess skin, tightening surrounding tissue, and repositioning the nipples. This procedure targets sagging breasts, restoring them to a more youthful position on the chest wall.
If lifting your breasts to a more attractive position would improve your self-image and boost your self-confidence, contact our office to discuss a breast lift. Even if you have small breasts or experience minor sagging, you may qualify for modified forms of the procedure.
Benefits of a Breast Lift
Some of the benefits patients experience from a breast lift include:
- Reduction of Sagging: A breast lift alleviates aspects of sagging that may hinder one’s preferred look.
- Enhanced Nipple Positioning: The surgery achieves a more appealing and natural appearance by positioning the nipples correctly.
- Boost in Confidence: Many women report feeling more self-assured after their breast lift procedure.
- Better Clothing Fit: Clothes may fit better, improving overall comfort when wearing various garments.
- Long-Lasting Results: The effects of a breast lift can last many years, even with normal aging.
- Customized Outcomes: Procedures can be tailored to meet individual desires, from elevation to lifting and breast augmentation combinations.
- Increased Comfort: Patients find greater ease when engaging in physical activities after corrections.
Candidates
Most women seeking to treat their breast ptosis will qualify for a mastopexy, but there are some key factors to consider to ensure a positive outcome. Patients who have plans to breastfeed should discuss this with Dr. Davoudi. This requires the procedure to be altered to preserve the mammary glands and nipple connections. (2) Patients whose ptosis is caused by weight loss should be evaluated for any nutritional deficits that could cause complications during recovery. (2) Ultimately, candidacy will be discussed further with Dr. Davoudi as you prepare for your procedure, and if you think you qualify for a mastopexy, you are encouraged to proceed with your planning.
Personal Consultation
At your initial breast lift consultation with Dr. Davoudi, he will examine and take pictures of your breasts and perform a 3-D computer analysis. This will lead to an open discussion about how the surgery is performed, what risks you should consider, and what you can expect in your specific situation.
Dr. Davoudi will also discuss your goals, and your procedural options, and offer recommendations to help you reach those goals. He will answer all of your questions so that you can make an educated decision about undergoing mastopexy.
Preparation
You will meet with Dr. Davoudi, the anesthesia team, and the lab for a pre-op visit approximately two weeks before the surgery. You will receive more instructions on how to prepare for your procedure and an overview of your preoperative responsibilities closer to the date of your mastopexy.
Getting ready for your breast lift means following specific instructions to ensure a smooth process. These may include:
- Discontinuing blood thinners and certain supplements as advised.
- Ceasing any nicotine use well before and after surgery to ensure efficient healing.
- Filling any prescribed medications before the day of surgery.
- Arranging transportation home post-procedure since anesthesia may be used.
- Allowing adequate time off from work and responsibilities for recovery.
Procedure
The most common breast lift procedure involves making incisions at the base of the breast (anchor-shaped), around the areolas, or between the areola and the base of the breast. (2) These incisions allow Dr. Davoudi to remove the excess skin. They also define the intended relocation of the nipple. After the excess skin is removed, the areola and nipple are transitioned to a higher position, and skin around the areola is molded to create a firmer, youthful appearance in the breast.
Modifications of this procedure are used for patients with minimal sagging and smaller breasts. In most cases, these procedures require fewer incisions. For instance, the “doughnut mastopexy” requires incisions around the areolas only. These incisions are circular and allow Dr. Davoudi to remove the excess skin in the shape of a doughnut.
Recovery
Discomfort and soreness are common for the first few postoperative days. Dr. Davoudi will likely prescribe pain medication and antibiotics to assist your healing after your procedure. It is usually required for patients to wear a supportive medical bra with added gauze for 4-6 weeks following their procedure to allow muscle tissue to regrow and reduce chances of re-sagging. (1) After this period, you can transfer to an underwire bra if you find it comfortable. Intense physical activity should be avoided throughout this period.
Over time, you will start to see improved breast symmetry and position. Any scarring typically fades and becomes less noticeable as time passes.
Results
You can expect mastopexy to deliver a lifted breast profile with a better shape that still feels and looks natural. Results can last for years depending on factors such as changes in weight and other lifestyle influences, so it is essential to maintain healthy habits post-surgery. Dr. Davoudi dedicates himself to ensuring each patient attains pleasing outcomes tailored to their expectations.
Corresponding & Complementary Procedures
Breast Enhancement
As breast ptosis is a side effect of weight loss, pregnancy and childbirth, hormonal shifts, and more, many patients require additional procedures to achieve their ideal body image. Breast lifts can also be combined with breast augmentation procedures with the addition of implants or fat transfer. This is so common that Dr. Davoudi even offers specific breast lifts with augmentation procedures.
Mommy Makeover
For new mothers, the Mommy Makeover is available to tighten and smooth the midsection, reshape breasts, and eliminate problem areas of fat. Finally, breasts are not the only body parts that sag — if your butt needs enhancement, explore Dr. Davoudi’s Brazilian Butt Lift procedures.

FAQ
What risks are associated with surgery?
Scarring is a potential side effect of mastopexy, and the risk is higher if you want more aggressive reshaping efforts. Other risks include negative reactions to general anesthesia and infection at the incision points.
Can you combine a breast lift with other procedures?
Some patients choose to combine mastopexy with breast augmentation to increase breast volume.
What is the typical recovery time after surgery?
You should plan to relax for at least one week, possibly two, after you undergo your mastopexy. You will need to wait 3-4 weeks before lifting heavy weights and a month before participating in strenuous exercise or sports.
Can I breastfeed after a mastopexy?
If you are currently breastfeeding, or plan to after your procedure, you will need to discuss this with Dr. Davoudi. Some patients’ mastopexies need to be altered to preserve this function.
Is a breast lift permanent?
While the results are long-lasting, factors such as age, weight changes, and hereditary traits may affect eventual outcomes.
