Breast Reduction
Conveniently located to serve the areas of Duluth, GA
Many women enjoy large breasts, but they cause problems when they’re disproportionate to the rest of the body. Excessively large breasts can lead to pain in the back, neck and shoulders. They may also make it difficult to exercise due to chest movement and uncomfortable chafing. Large breasts may also make some women appear overweight or lead to sexual attention that many women aren’t comfortable receiving.
Reduction mammaplasty decreases the size of the breasts in order to relieve the pain and help women feel more comfortable about their appearance. The surgery takes two to four hours to complete, depending on the amount of excess fat, skin and tissue removed. Once the breasts are properly reduced, the nipple is repositioned. The breasts remain all natural, but they are a healthier size after the surgery.

Ideal Candidate
If you suffer from any of the following conditions, you are potentially a good candidate for surgery:
- Back pain
- Neck pain
- Shoulder pain
- Skin irritation/chafing
- Breathing problems
You may also choose to have your breasts reduced surgically if you are unsatisfied with the appearance of your chest. If you feel your large breasts make you look overweight or present an image that isn’t in line with your true personality and lifestyle, then it’s time to contact Dr. Davoudi to discuss your options. The surgery may help increase your self confidence.
While large breasts can present problems at any age, it’s best to wait until your body is fully developed before considering surgery. You may also want to wait until you’re past the childbearing age because fluctuations in weight and breastfeeding can cause breasts to soften and sag. Some women do choose to have the surgery before getting pregnant because they believe smaller breasts are easier to manage during and after pregnancy. Make sure to discuss your future plans for childbirth with Dr. Davoudi during your initial consultation.
Expectations
You can expect your breasts to look and feel smaller but completely natural after surgery. You may notice that they are shapelier and more upright, and you may have the pleasure of not needing a bra with every shirt in your wardrobe. These results are long lasting, but keep in mind that breast tissue naturally starts to lose elasticity with age.
Consultation
The initial consultation gives you the opportunity to tell Dr. Davoudi the reasons you’re considering a reduction mammaplasty and what you want to achieve with the surgery. He will thoroughly examine your breasts, including taking pictures and using 3D computer analysis. He will determine whether your expectations are realistic and will work with you to determine what a healthy, comfortable breast size is for your body.
If you schedule the procedure, you will return for a pre-op appointment approximately two weeks prior to your surgery date. Dr. Davoudi will answer any last-minute questions you may have and give you instructions on how to prepare your breasts for surgery.
FAQ
What Surgical Options Does Dr. R. Morgan Davoudi Offer?
Most surgeries involve three incisions: around the areola, along the natural curve of the breast crease, and from the bottom edge of the areola down the underside of the breast. In special circumstances, Dr. Davoudi may vary the incision sites. Once the excess tissue, fat and skin is removed, the nipple and areola are relocated. Dr. Davoudi may also reduce the size of the areola, depending on the amount of stretching it has endured. In most cases, the nipples and areolas aren’t detached from the interior tissue, so sensation is unaffected. In some cases, more extensive reshaping is required.
What is the Cost of Surgery?
The cost of surgery depends on the amount of skin, tissue and fat removed as well as other variables. Come in for a consultation or schedule an online consultation to get a price for your breasts.
What Risks are Associated?
Dr. Davoudi is a board-certified plastic surgeon performing a variety of cosmetic procedures in surgical centers attached to hospital facilities. While there are some minor risks associated with any type of surgery, such as infection, our staff is dedicated to reducing risk as much as possible. You will learn more about the specific risks that apply to your surgery during your initial consultation.
Can You Combine this procedure with Other Surgeries?
In some cases, liposuction is used to contour the skin underneath the arms after this surgery. If you’re interested in other types of surgery, make sure to discuss your options during your initial consultation.
What is the Typical Recovery Time after Surgery?
After your surgery, you will wear bandages or dressing around your breasts to protect the incisions. You may wear a support bra to reduce swelling and help your breasts heal properly. You will receive specific post-operative care instructions during your consultation, but expect to take at least a week or two away from your daily life so that you can rest and allow your body to heal. You can expect to resume more strenuous activities within a month of surgery, but the recovery period varies.
